Guangdong Nortel Telecommunications Equipment Co. Ltd. (GDNT), officially founded in March 1995, is one of Nortel's key joint ventures. Continuing its tradition of innovation by technology transfer, localization, research and development, Guangdong Nortel provides secure solutions, comprehensive equipments and professional service to her customers, becoming the key hub for Nortel in the circle of the research, manufacturing and customer service all over the world.

It was in November, 1994 that Joint Venture Contract of Guangdong Nortel was signed in Beijing between Northern Telecom Limited and Chinese business partners including China National Hua Xin Posts and Telecommunications Economic Development Center, Guangdong Postsmmunications Administrative Bureau, Henan Posts and Telecommunications Administrative Bure and Telecommunications Administrative Bureau, Hebei Posts and Telecoau, China International Telecommunications Construction Corporation, Guangdong Macro Co. Ltd, China Tong Guang Electronics Corporation.

It was in January, 1995 that the first Board of Directors meeting of Guangdong Nortel was held in Guangzhou.

It was in November, 1998 that the unanimous resolution adopted by the Board of Directors , the Parties agreed to make certain changes to the scope of business of the Joint Venture Company and the registered capital. Guangdong Nortel entered into a new development stage with its historic right turn.

It was in February, 2005 that the 27th Board of Directors meeting of Guangdong Nortel was held in San Yan, Hai Nan Province.
